About
Dhaka Home Guide is an independent editorial site about renting, furnishing and living in a Dhaka apartment. We write for the person who just moved into a 2-bed in Mirpur, the family upgrading a 12-year-old flat in Dhanmondi, and everyone in between.
How we work
- We are reader-supported and independent. We do not accept payment from vendors, brands or contractors in exchange for coverage or placement.
- When we recommend a vendor by name, we say why, and we usually name more than one.
- We test what we can afford to test. When we cite a price or a lead time, we say when we last checked.
- We update posts when reality changes — a new BRTA rule, a monsoon that shifts the season, a vendor that stopped honouring warranties.
Author
Most of what you read here is written by Ayesha Karim. Ayesha has rented in Mirpur, Dhanmondi and Bashundhara over the last eight years and has furnished four apartments on four very different budgets. She writes about the things she wishes someone had written before she signed each lease.
Disclosure
Some posts include links to shops, service providers and product catalogues we have used or reviewed. These are not paid placements. If we ever accept a paid arrangement in future, we will disclose it in the post and mark it clearly.
